"I Never Thought I'd Get Back in Shape Again."

Mike C.

Before Prevail

"When I joined Prevail, I was grasping at straws. I was recovering from the worst back injury I'd ever had and was in constant pain.

My goals were simple: reduce my pain, strengthen my core to prevent future injuries, and regain control of my mental health. Exercise had always been my outlet, but I couldn't train the way I used to.

I'd dealt with back issues on and off for years, but by my 40s I realized I was no longer training for what my body actually needed. Between work, family, inconsistency, poor core strength, and not paying attention to nutrition, I felt lost."

What Changed

"My core is now the strongest it's ever been. Planks aren't difficult anymore, I'm bench pressing more than I ever did—even in university—and I'm more flexible than I was at 25.

My VO₂ max sits around 50–55, my energy is excellent, I'm sleeping well, and my confidence has improved across the board. Most importantly, my mental health is consistently stable, allowing me to enjoy every other part of my life more.

My back pain still comes and goes, but the difference is I recover much faster, and the bad days aren't nearly as bad.

The accountability through the app and Reg's coaching has been a huge part of that. Whenever my back flares up, we've always been able to adjust the plan so I can keep moving forward instead of stopping altogether."

Long-Term Impact

"Looking back, I'm most proud of bouncing back from where I was in the fall of 2025. I honestly never thought I'd get back into shape again—never mind hitting personal bests and enjoying pain-free days.

Fitness has become one of my highest priorities each week. Whether I'm at home or on vacation, I make time to train or at least get out for a walk. I've completely shifted how I think about fitness. I'm no longer training for sports—I'm training for the rest of my life.

Working in healthcare, I see every day how much fitness influences healthy aging, mental health, and quality of life. That's why I'm confident I can maintain these habits for the long term.

If someone asked whether Prevail is worth it, I'd tell them this: give it six months of honest consistency. Put in the work, stay accountable, and the results will come."
